JACOB BOWMAN WILL 1826

 

In the name of God Amen.

I, Jacob Bowman of the County of Clay and the state of Kentucky, Being of and possessing a disposing mind and memory do ordain appoint and constitue this my last will and testament. To Wit.

 

1st it is my will that all my perishable property of every kind (after my debts are paid) remain on my farm for the sole purpose for raising my children and for the purpose of my wife during her widowhood and that my farm and the proceeds of all my land be used go to the raising of my children and support of my wife.

 

2nd Tis my will that when my youngest child comes of age that all my land be sold and the proceeds therof be equally divided among all my children reserving the one third of my land and proceeds thereof to my wife Elmore Bowman if she then be alive - I do hereby appoint my truly and faithful friend and Brother Elisha W. Bowman the sole executor of this my last will and testament.

 

In testimony where of I have unto set my hand and seal this thirtieth day of July in the year of our Lord on thousand eight hundred twenty six.  Done in the presence of us-

     I, Abner Baker Clerk of the County Court of Clay, afsd certify that Jacob Bowman will was proved on the 25 September 1826 by the subscribing witnesses and admitted of record and now stands duly recorded on the 10th December 1830.

Commonwealth   

 Know all men by these presents that we Elner Bowman, widow of Jacob Bowman (descd) William Clark and Elijah Isaacs acknowledge themselves indebted to the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the sum of $500.00 which payment will truly be made.  We bind ourselves, our heirs &c jointly and severally firmly by these presents.  Sealed with our seals and dated this 25th day of November 1833.

     The condition of the above obligation is such that if the said Elner Bowman, Administrator, with the will annex of the said Jacob Bowman, descd, shall well and good administer the goods and chattels of the said Jacob Bowman deceased do make a true and perfect inventory of all goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased which has or shall come to the hands, possession of any other person or persons for her and the same so make does exhibit into Court at such time as she shall be thereto required by the said Court, and the same goods and chattels do well and truly administer according to law and make a just and true account of all her actings and doings and faithfully execute said decendents Will and render an account when thereto required by said Court.  And further do well and truly pay and deliver all legacies contained and specified in said will as far as the said goods, chattels, rights and credits will extend according to the value there of and as the law shall charge her, else remain in full force.
