Obituary

Meredith Childress Hughes

MEREDITH CHILDRESS HUGHES was born at Green Hall, Jackson County, Kentucky on September 10,1847. He departed this life April 1st, 1932. He was 84 years 6 months and 22 days. He married Nancy Bowles in 1867 who died December 30, 1921. To this union were born eleven children. He is survived by three daughters and five sons names to wit: Sarah E. Strong, Laura J. Spence and Maude M. Brewer of Sturgeon, Kentucky, J.I. Hughes of Vico, Kentucky, Dr. H.A. Hughes of Richmond, Kentucky, John J. Hughes of Campton, Kentucky, Dr. R.L. Hughes of Richmond, Kentucky, and also a second wife, Etta Hughes and besides these by a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of friends and distant relatives. He was never united to any faith or order of religion other than a long active member of the Masons Order. His belief and expression by his ever presence at nearly all meetings of the Primative Baptist Church at the Rock Springs Church. He was liked by all who knew him far and wide.
