Material Submitted by John Sandlin and transcribed by Michelle Williams Cole

The volume here presented reveals within its pages records concerning many of the native sons of Kentucky who are upholding the high prestige which the legal profession of the state has ever maintained, and in this connection it is gratifying to note that Mr. Moore, who is established in the successful practice of law at McKee, Jackson County, is essentially one of the able members of the bar of his native county. He was born in Jackson County, on the 11th of September, 1871, a son of Harvey Moore and a grandson of Cornelius Moore, whose birth occurred in Owsley County, Kentucky, in 1812, and who continued his residence in that county until about 1850, when he removed to Jackson County, there he became a substantial farmer and where also he gave many years of earnest service as a clergyman of the Baptist Church, the while his fine personality and marked ability gave him much of leadership in community sentiment and action. He continued to reside in Jackson County until his death, and here he also occurred the death of his wife, whose family name was Evans and who was born and reared in Owsley County. Rev. Cornelius Moore was a son of William Moore, who was born and reared in Virginia and who came as a young man to Kentucky and became a pioneer farmer in Owsley County. There he passed the remainder of his life, his marriage having been solemnized after he came to Owsley County.
